As of 1 September 2020, the Government of Hungary has temporarily reintroduced border control at the Slovenian, Austrian and Slovak border sections and at internal air border crossing points. Border crossing is only possible at designated border crossing points. The designated border crossing points can be found on the website of the police (www.police.hu) under the border information menu item.

The following categories can enter Hungary without being subject to restrictions:

• those providing satisfactory proof while entering Hungary that they have undergone COVID-19 infection within 6 months prior to reporting to entry;
• those providing their protection against the COVID-19 while entering Hungary with valid immunity certificate (issued according to the 60/2021 Government Decree) with the travel document indicated on the immunity certificate, and a person under his/her supervision who enters Hungary with him/her and has not reached the age of eighteen;
• those providing their protection against the COVID-19 while entering Hungary with valid immunity certificate issued by a State specified by decree of the Minister responsible for foreign policy and a person under the age of 18 years under his/her supervision who enters Hungary along with him/her;
• who, by presenting an immunity card issued by a country listed in MFAT Decree No. 17/2021 (V. 22.) on the unilateral recognition of immunity certificates, certifies his/her COVID immunity and a person under the age of 18 years under his/her supervision who enters Hungary along with him/her.

Non-Hungarian citizens who

d) are participants of a cultural event in Hungary as

            da)artist/performer,

            db) member of the technical staff.

can enter Hungary, if the person proves with a document issued in English or Hungarian that (s)he has undergone a molecular biological tests (SARS-CoV-2 tests) within 5 days prior to reporting to entry that meets healthcare professional criteria and was conducted on two occasions in an interval exceeding 48 hours, and such tests did not reveal SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in his/her body.

Notwithstanding, persons can enter Hungary if, within 3 days prior to the sporting event, sporting program or cultural event a SARS-CoV-2 PCR test (a molecular biological test in accordance with health professional rules) is made. And the result of the test certifies that SARS -CoV-2 coronavirus was not detected in the body at the time of the study.

Pleased be informed about the following:

Although the emergency measures due to coronavirus announced on February 8, 2021 were mitigated by the Hungarian government, unfortunately the partner institutions of our Singing Competition cannot be open and larger cultural events are not allowed.

Based on these, we are forced to postpone the Singing Competition scheduled for April.
We will be able to hold the Singing Competition in June at the earliest, as soon as we will receive a permit.

The competition will by no means be missed. Applications submitted to the competition are valid.

Until the start of the competition, we wish all singers a deep, joyful and diligent preparation!

The Hungarian Cultural Center in London is offering a special prize for the talents of The 11th International József Simándy Singing Competition, which is a joint concert opportunity in London for two singers and the accompanying pianist with accommodation and daily allowance.

The epidemic situation is currently improving in the United Kingdom. Around 30 million people has been already vaccinated. According to the announcement of the British government, a larger-scale concert can be held in June at the earliest. The concert of the two Special Prize Winner singers most probably can be held in August or beginning of September. 

In official announcement of the Hungarian Cultural Center in London it is explained that the Cultural Centre is very pleased to be able to help introduce the opera singers of the future and collaborate with such a series of events as the prestigious József Simándy Singing Competition.

Due to the restrictions caused by the coronavirus please be informed about the following: 

According to the correspondence with the Hungarian Ministry of Culture our government will issue a decree that will regulate cultural events in Hungary. This new regulation will be announced in two weeks.

We plan to organize The 11th International József Simándy Singing Competition in Szeged between 19-25th of April, 2021

Due to the restrictions caused by the coronavirus, we may be forced to change the date.

The competition will by no means be missed, but it will be held as required by official measures. Application submitted for the competition are valid.

We will provide more information regarding competition date as soon as possible.

The Prizewinner's Gala Concert will take place in The National Theatre of Szeged. The winners perform opera arias with the Symphony Orchestra of Szeged conducted by Sándor Gyüdi.
