 Biography

Music played a central role in the life of the young Budapest tenor Artúr Szeleczki from an early age. He began to study to play the trumpet at  Art Education Institute in Kispest, where he was a student of Csaba Schweigert between 2008 and 2015. From 2013 he studied classical singing as a student of Olga Szilágyi at the 'Ernő Dohnányi' Art Education Institute. He specialized in information technology in the 'Ágoston Trefort' Bilingual Secondary School. Since 2017 Mr. Szeleczki has been studying classical singing at the Liszt Academy of Music by the opera singer Péter Fried. He speaks fluent English and is also learning Italian, Russian, and German.

In 2018 and 2019, he took part in the masterclass of Claudio di Segni, professor of the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. In 2016 he sang with the Saint Ephraim Male Choir presenting work of  Franz Liszt: Four elements. Between 2015 October and 2016 January, he played the role of the Prince Burkus in József Bozsó’s Matthias and the Fool King at the Hungarian Music Theatre.

Mr. Szelecki won several singing competitions in Hungary: 

In 2019 he won 2nd prize in operetta category at the 4th 'Elisabeth Házy'  International Talent Search Singing Competition.

In 2018 he won Absolute 1st prize at the 3rd Danubia Talents International Music Competition. In the same year he won the 3rd prize in  Bachelor category at the 2nd Éva Andor Singing Competition organized by the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. 

In 2017, Mr Szeleczki was awarded with the prize 'Award for excellent Hungarian pronunciation' by the  Friends of Hungarian Singing Culture. 

In 2017 he received prizes in several national singing competitions: The young tenore won the 1st prize in the 1st age group at The 9th National 'Jenő Ádám' Singing Competition. He won 1st prize in opera category and Grand Prix in art song category at the 19th Meeting of the Classical Singing Students of the Music and Art Schools in Balassagyarmat. 

In 2016 he won  Award of Excellence at the 7th Budapest Classical Singing Festival. In the same year he won 1st prize in opera category and 2nd prize in art song category at the 18th Meeting of the Classical Singing Students of the Music and Art Schools in Balassagyarmat. He also won 2nd prize in his age group at the 1st Classical Singing Competition in Veszprém.
