Biography 

Chinese born baritone, Jinxin Chen is based in Vienna, Austria, where he is currently completing his second Master Degree in vocal performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

Since his 2018 move to Europe he has sung the main roles in 4 opera productions in Vienna and appeared in Liederabende in Austria, Germany, Estonia, Lithuania and Hungary.

Before relocating in Europe, Chen lived and studied in Japan, completing his first Master Degree (in Opera) at the Tokyo University of Arts on a full scholarship from the Japanese Government (MEXT). He earned his Bachelor Degree at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.In Japan Jinxin Chen was already active as a performer, appearing in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, as Guglielmo and Don Alfonso, at separate occasions, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore as Belcore, Verdi’s Don Carlo as Rodrigo, bass soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. He also performed regularly in Liederabende and as concert soloist.

Mr. Chen was the first prize winner at various national and international competitions.Amongst others he was awarded the Excellence Prize at the „4th Madama Butterfly International singing competition in Nagasaki “, 1st Prize beim „ Second China University Student Lieder Competition“, the Goldprize at „ 46th Japan Italian Singing Competition” . and 1st Prize beim “35th Japan Soreiu Music Competition”.
