Biography
Young baritone, Krisztián Szenthelyi started his singing education at the age of 17 by the opera singer József Hormai. After graduation from high school, he had been studying in the class of Júlia Barna at the St. Stephen Conservatory for one year, then he was admitted to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music to the class of Gábor Bretz. Since 2015, he has been giving concerts in both Hungary and abroad.
By now, his more significant places of performance were the Academy of Music in Budapest, the Matthias Church, the Budapest Congress Centre, the Budapest Operetta Theatre, the Danube Palace, the Open-air Stage of Vajdahunyadvár, the Festetics Palace, and the Stefánia Palace. The year 2016 was a really important one for him, as he went on a tour to North-Europe with the Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. There he had performances in Russia (Moscow, Saint Petersburg), Latvia (Riga), Lithuania (Vilnius), and Estonia (Tallinn).
Since 2015, Krisztián Szenthelyi has been giving hundreds of concerts as a soloist and was also a guest performer in churches, community centres and concert halls. During this time, he had famous opera singers as partners, like Ingrid Kertesi, Erika Miklósa, Piroska Pándy and Kolos Kováts. In the past years, he performed with the following orchestras: MÁV Symphony Orchestra, Vác Symphony Orchestra, Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra, Primarius Symphony Orchestra.
In 2017, he participated in the V. National József Gregor Singing Competition where he reached 2nd place and also received the Kodály-Price. With the price, he won a performance with the Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra and the conductor János Ács. At the end of this year, the Performer’s Rights Protection Association Office chose him as its 10.000th member. In 2018, he gained the 1st price of the IV. National Singing Competition. In 2019, he was the absolute winner of the Danubia Talents International Competition.
In 2020, Krisztián Szemthelyi received his very first opera role in Frigyes Andrássy’s Ady és Léda work (Ady and Léda) which was organized by the Hungarian State Opera House.
