 Biography

Marija Čuposka is based in Belgrade, Serbia. She started her musical education at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of Professor Nikola Kitanovski. She gained her Master’s Degree in 2019 by interpreting the role of Lucia di Lammermoor in collaboration with the National Theatre in Belgrade. Furthermore, she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

Marija Čuposka had a prolific concert activity. She has so far established a professional collaboration with the Serbian National Radio Symphony Orchestra by interpreting the works of Bach, Schubert, and Fauré under the baton of maestro Bojan Sudjic and Vladimir Kranjcevic (Croatia). She has performed with the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad, along with renowned singers such as Riccardo Zanellato under the baton of maestro Gianluca Marciano.

As one of the best students of the Classical Singing Department, she has performed with the Faculty of Music Symphony Orchestra under the baton of maestro Sudjic. What’s more, she has collaborated on many occasions with the Belgrade Symphony, the Stanislav Binicki orchestra, and the string ensemble BGO Skovran.

Marija Čuposka has performed in various concert halls and on stages throughout Serbia, of which the most significant were the stages of the National Theatre in Belgrade, Kolarac Music Hall, Kombank Hall, and Belgrade Symphonic Hall. Marija Čuposka has also been elected to take part twice in the Festival of Russian classical music Kustendorf Klasik organized by the renowned Serbian director Emir Kusturica. She is a member of the ensemble of the Theatre of Musicals and of Opera Pannonica.

She has received numerous awards, yet some of them have been quite significant for her professional development as an opera singer: In 2019, she was the winner of Lav Mirski

International Singing Competition in Croatia which has enabled her to establish collaboration with the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek. She was also the winner of the Nikola Cvejic International Singing Competition in Serbia in 2017 and of the Lazar Jovanovic International Competition in 2016. Marija Čuposka is a winner of the annual Biserka Cvejic Award for 2017, as well as the joint Faculty of Music and Guarnerius Award for 2019. She was also the recipient of a scholarship for the summer course of baroque music at the Barock Akademie in Gmunden for 2017.

She has attended various masterclasses and perfected her skills and knowledge with renowned opera singers such as David Bizic, Marijana Mijanovic, Darina Takova and Susanne Ryden.
