Biography
After finishing elementary school of music in Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina, playing violin, Mladen Prodan attended “Savo Balaban” Music High School, studying theory of music and solo singing under the guidance of professor Tijana Vuksan, while simultaneously attending a gymnasium in the same town. During that period, he won many awards, not only in solo singing, but also in solfeggio, namely: 1st place at the Lazar Jovanović Competition in Belgrade in 2011, special award at the Republic Solo Singing Competition in Banja Luka in 2013, 1st place at the Republic Solfeggio Competition in Banja Luka in 2010 as well as in 2012 and many others. Following his high school graduation, he enrolled in the department of Solo Singing at the Faculty of Music, University of Belgrade where his teacher became professor Ljudmila Gros Popovic. Since then, he has won several awards, such as:
1st prize at the Nikola Cvejić Competition in Ruma, Serbia,
1st prize at the Petar Konjović competition in Belgrade, Serbia and
1st prize at the Bruna Spiler competition in Herceg Novi, Montenegro.
Furthermore, Mladen was a recipient of the Jelena Mihajlovic Fund as the most perspective young singer at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in 2014. He had many public performances, as well as two significant roles as a member of Belgrade’s Faculty of Music opera studio, run by professor Dragana Radakovic. He sang a solo in Ramírez’ Criolla Mass with the faculty’s choir and Mokranjac’s III, V and VI Garland as member of the Colegium Musicum Choir. His musical performances include the cycle of songs called Travel and conversations, composed by Stanislava Gajic, young but brilliant composer, for soprano, tenor, string quintet and flute, as part of her Ph.D. project. As a member of the faculty’s opera studio, he played the role of Mujezin in 2014, the role of Eisenstein from the operetta Die Fledermaus written by Strauss in 2015, Genaro, character in the opera Maddalena, by Sergei Prokofiev in 2016 and the role of Almeric from the opera Iolanta by Tchaikovsky in Herceg Novi (Montenegro Opera Festival) in 2017.
After finishing his bachelor studies, he enrolled in master studies, where his teacher was Nikola Mijailovic (2017). He was laureate of the Vera Vitkai Kovac competition in Novi Sad (2017). In December 2017 he collaborated with maestro Bojan Sudjic by preforming a solo tenor part in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
In 2018 he won 1st price with 100 points on International Solo Singing Competition Lazar Jovanovic in the category of opera duets with soprano Katarina Radovanovic singing love duet (Mario, Mario, Mario) from opera Tosca.
In September 2019, he was part of Waiblingen Opera workshop with Thomas Hampson and Melanie Diener.
He is currently a Master student at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, Serbia.
